 Black Body Summit I

Press Release: March 10, 2025

Crystal Marshall's "Post Pandemia; A Transformation" will debut at The Supermarket a new multi-disciplinary hub and alternative space in Atlanta, Georgia. The show will open on March 21st - 25th 2025 featuring vestiges of a time since past–some of the work done in 2020 during the time of the pandemic and in 2024.

The artist has an ongoing series called “Blackbody” that brings to focus a post-human existence capturing a shift in power, transition and our own fragility. While in lock down the artist turned to sculpture, digital photography and painting to build on the experience as it pertains to blurring the lines between fiction and non-fiction, depicting galactic excursion and inter-dimensional invasion.

Blackbody Lips of Coal II- Unspoken Truths

The works have more than just a galactical or surreal quality, they explore the shared experiences and unprecedented fear during the pandemic–reality itself hijacked. Works on view merge visions of anxieties, and mythological extra-terrestrial beings. Her Afro futuristic visions are shown through an unveiled reality, depicting transcendental beings who descend upon and utilize a blackbody host. The works point out hidden meanings that at times, disrupt logical structures and prompt engaging dialogues. “Post Pandemia; A Transformation” points out socially relevant themes of social compliance, crisis, transformation and parasitism within the spiritual domain.
