Rosson Crow: Trust Fall
November 21 - December 29
By WM, December 2019
From the press release:
Rosson Crow's solo exhibition "Trust Fall" is now on view at The Hole through December 29th. One of the final exhibitions at Deitch Projects in 2010 and included in The Hole's inaugural show later that year, Crow has continued to make large and sophisticated American History paintings since her debut at Canada Gallery in 2004.
With fifteen years of gallery exhibitions around the world from Honor Fraser in LA to Nathalie Obadia in Paris and White Cube in London, Crow's recent exhibitions have mainly been institutional, including an awesome 2018 show at MOCA Tuscon in Arizona and a retrospective at the Musée Regional d'Art Contemporain de Serignan, France.
These ten paintings in "Trust Fall" capture contemporary issues in American culture without being heavy handed or didactic. As in the majority of her works, these look at constructed space and how staged environments reveal power, manipulation and cultural conflict. Whether environmental issues or gender dynamics the content is handled in an exuberant, humorous and visually sophisticated way. We hope you can visit before the end of the year—and the end of the decade! WM
