Ute Änne Thon

Ute Änne Thon is a journalist, art critic and filmmaker based in Berlin, Germany. As correspondent for VOGUE, FAS and ARTmagazine she covered the contemporary art scene in New York and reported from Venice, Sydney and Tehran. She has interviewed art world luminaries like Robert Rauschenberg, Louise Bourgeois, Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, Christo, Ai Weiwei, Marina Abramovic, Jenny Holzer, Richard Serra and Patti Smith.

She was Text-Editor-in-Chief at ART. Das Kunstmagazin and published monographs with Wolfgang Tillmans, Jerry Berndt and Samira Hodaei. She currently writes for Kunstforum International, critic.de, Whitehot Magazine, and her own platform UÄ-UND ÄHNLICHES. Her documentary ON ISLANDS about Indigenous histories in Canada premiered at Berlin Art Week in 2025.
