NEW EXHIBITION SPACE OPENS WITH

AN ODE TO THE ANIMAL

JUNE 13 TO JULY 6

Capricious Publishing is pleased to announce the launch of Capricious #8, a special tabloid-sized edition devoted to animals. Simultaneously, Capricious Space, a new breed, experimental cultural center, located at 103 Broadway, in Williamsburg, opens with its premiere exhibition, An Ode to the Animal. The show will be on view from June 13th to July 6th. A reception celebrating the new issue and space will be held on Friday, June 13th from 6 pm to 10 pm.

Capricious #8: The Animal Issue* showcases a beautifully curated selection of 30 photographs by 30 emerging and established artists. The images in the show and new issue are printed as large double-sided posters, presented in a limited edition tabloid sized magazine format printed using alternative energy, a Capricious priority. Included in the exhibition are exquisitely personalized odes to the animal, our friends, by Melanie Bonajo, Olaf Breuning, Elspeth Diederix, Charlotte Dumas, Todd Fisher, Oran Hoffmann, Scarlett Hooft Graafland, Inka Lindergård and Niclas Holström, Diana Scherer and Luke Stephenson, among others.

About Capricious magazine

Capricious is an international fine art photography publication for emerging artists. The presented work is neither commercial, nor fashion photography; it creates a visual narrative without intermediary contextualization. Capricious is a potential makeshift, personal gallery of autonomous works, as well as journal. Readers become critics, curators, and artists rather than mere consumers.

About Capricious Space

Capricious Space is located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. A different place with a different feeling, our mission is to be a sanctuary away from the city’s clamor and strife. Capricious Space is a resting ground, an oasis. Throughout the year the Capricious Space will invite artists to transform the space according to their own visions and dreams, then toast their creations with a series of artist dinners, lectures, screenings and readings, thus bringing the Capricious generation together. Upcoming shows include And then, what then, curated by Andrea Longacre-White, opening July 11th, 2008.

*A percentage of the sales of Capricious #8 will benefit B.A.R.C shelter, a no- kill animal shelter in Brooklyn.
