"The Best Art In The World"
By MANUELA ACCINNO April 9, 2025
The life of contemporary man is a mosaic of experiences, often contradictory and permeated by a sense of bewilderment and uncertainty. In a frenetic world, where time seems elusive, we find ourselves living in a condition of perpetual becoming, increasingly far from emotional and psychological stability. The deep pains that afflict us - be they related to loss, mental health or existence itself - seem to fragment ourselves, sculpting us into unexpected and sometimes dissonant forms. In this context, existential issues emerge as a silent cry, an inner struggle that many of us face but few are willing to express openly. However, in this stormy sea of complex feelings, art emerges as a beacon of hope and recompositing. Photography, in particular, has the power to capture the essence of fleeting moments, transforming them into lasting testimonies of our human experience. A significant example is the work of Lagos-born photographer Bade Fuwa. His works not only deal with grief and death, but also explore life in all its manifestations, from the intensity of pain to the fragile beauty that often eludes us.
Bade Fuwa, "Where is Home", 2023
Through Fuwa's lens, photography becomes a lens through which to observe the complexities of existence. He urges us to confront the brutality of reality, but does so with such sensitivity that he transforms drama into visual poetry. His images, while imbued with a profound sadness, manage to create a dialogue with the viewer, encapsulating universal emotions that resonate in each of us. The beauty surrounding these scenes is not merely aesthetic; it is charged with meaning, serving as a vehicle for a deeper reflection on our human condition. Fuwa thus gives us a tool for understanding and healing. Through art, we can reconnect with what is most important to us: the emotions, the bonds, the stories that define us. In this process of recompositing, photography becomes a medium through which we can process pain, find a kind of catharsis and rediscover beauty even in the darkest moments. His images take us on an inner journey, allowing us to explore the boundary between life and death, between suffering and beauty, between the fragility of existence and the power of art.

Basically, Bade Fuwa's work tells us how art, and photography in particular, can act as a bridge between our pain and our ability to be reborn. It reminds us that even in the most difficult times, there is always the possibility of reconnecting the pieces of ourselves, of finding a sense of unity and beauty that can resonate deep within our souls. The constant search for meaning in life is a continuous dance between light and shadow; through art, we can learn to embrace both, thus finding a sense of peace and fulfilment in this existence that is as complex as it is fascinating.
