Do come look for me

Do come look for me

When I pass

Wherever I be

My love, please do come look for me

Whether on a rock

Or on a shore

In a morning meadow

Or on a mossy forest floor

My love, please do come look for me

I will be waiting patiently

Hour glass in my hand

Counting the endless grains of sand

Any anger for your delay

My joyful tears will wash away

The forever sun rising in the east

But never setting in the west

Timeless love shall be our guest

My love, please do come look for me

While dealing with a rare form of cancer I have begun to face my own mortality. Let this poem act as a marker for all of us who have felt the pain of unrequited love. The suite of drawings that illustrates the poem documents my coming to terms with both my broken heart and the raw emotions that ensued. All the drawings were made from my bed at the McAuley Hall Health Care Center Watchung, New Jersey in January of 2026. I was recovering from surgery on my right foot to remove my middle toe. My foot had become infected with gangrene; a direct response to my cancer treatment which had led to neuropathy in both my hands and feet. Somehow, I still managed to prepare for my first one-person exhibition with Tibor de Nagy Gallery. I will forever be grateful for the love and support of so many while I navigated this difficult time in my life. But it is life that I have chosen, and I will fight for it every day forward.
