Carl White "Classical Irreverence" at Gallery Merrick

"Classical Irreverence serves as a juxtaposition of two seemingly opposing forces: the timeless grace and rigor of classical art forms, and the disruptive energy of irreverence. My work embodies this duality, challenging traditional perceptions while paying homage to the enduring beauty and discipline of classical techniques.

In my art, classical forms and motifs are reimagined through a lens of modern subversion. I take inspiration from the masters, yet I infuse their influence with contemporary sensibilities, often blending high art with elements of popular culture, satire, and unconventional materials. This approach questions the sanctity of the classical canon and invites viewers to reconsider what is deemed worthy of reverence.

Each piece serves as a dialogue between the past and the present, a testament to the enduring relevance of classical traditions in a constantly evolving cultural landscape.
Through my work, I strive to honor the past while boldly carving out space for innovation and new perspectives."
