I am writing to share my thoughts on Ian Myers’s current exhibition, "The Cut Worm Forgives The Plow," on display at CHART Gallery in Tribeca. The title is drawn from William Blake’s Proverbs of Hell (1790–1793).
The solo exhibition features ten 10 x 8 inch panels executed in egg tempera on marble dust ground. Notable works include "catafalque" (2025), "pear" (2025), and "X" (2025).

Myers’s paintings possess a strong historical resonance with the works of Jan van Eyck. Despite their small scale, these paintings are incredibly powerful in content, color, and composition. The intricate layering and sense of intimacy invite prolonged viewing, offering new interpretations over time. In a medium where size is often prioritized, the quality and depth of Myer's work prove that content matters more.

This is a remarkable start to his career, and I look forward to following his future work.
