Historic flooding foiled last Friday’s party at the Frick for the new Barkley L. Hendricks solo show, but this Friday October 6th, there are at least two shows opening that will be entertaining enough to lessen the sting a bit - at least until the rescheduled party happens on December 8 at the Frick Madison…

First, at 16 Morton Street,“Kennyslist” curated by infamous artist/writer/collector/curator Kenny Schachter opens from 6- 8pm to begin its 2 month run. A group show featuring 300 pieces of art by dozens of artists including David Lachapelle, Bruce Nauman, Alfredo Martinez, Walter Robinson, Kim Gordon (of Sonic Youth), Richard Kern, and Graham Gillmore. The art will be displayed alongside vintage sports cars, courtesy of Morton Street Partners. One of the more intriguing items in the show will undoubtedly be the work of recently deceased, MoMA collection artist Alfredo Martinez.

From Oct 6- 27th the art duo Another Day presents their first show titled “A Beautiful Chaos” at 119 north 1st street in Williamsburg. A love letter to their adoptive city; the one and only, New York City. Two years in the making, the show encompasses a wide range of mediums, including film, 3-D printing, painting, sculptures, and even inflatables that are reminiscent of Macy’s Thanksgiving floats. Ubiquitous NYC items like park benches and shopping bags are elevated into icons. Fittingly, the mascots for this show are a colorful rat and pigeon. The pair will also be starring in a short film that will be screened at the show. The show is also a wonderful introduction for even the youngest art aficionados. Opening party is Friday October 6th from 4-10pm WM
