"The Best Art In The World"
Tony Huffman is an independent scholar, curator, cultural critic, and adjunct lecturer based in Brooklyn. He has held administrative, curatorial, research, and teaching posts. These varied institutional settings have provided a wide range of vantage points from which to engage with modern and contemporary art, theory, and practice—and have fundamentally shaped his research interests in labor, material histories, historical revisionism, post-colonialism, and the accrual of meaning. He has explored these interests in relation to diverse works of art through reviews, catalog essays, public programs, and exhibitions, such as Postmodern Miasmas (2019) and Historiographical Interventions (2022). He has contributed to ÆQAI, Arcade Project Zine, The Brooklyn Rail, Art Monthly, and Artforum. His research has been presented at interdisciplinary academic conferences across the United States, and been supported through grants and residencies from the Knight Foundation, the Baker-Nord Center for the Humanities, Phi Beta Kappa, and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
