Faustine Badrichani’s installation “Do not Disturb” is promising to be a full body experience at the highly-expected curator-driven art fair SPRING/BREAK Art Show. Blurring the lines between public and private spaces, the installation aspires to mirror the pathos and the obsession of a society caught up in the lures of social media. WM

Large walls and more intricate exhibition spaces are covered with blown up alluring female body parts and forms, more particularly asses, breasts, hips, thighs, bellies, feet, and hands - shown partly as in a peep show. The multiplicity of images replicates a contemporary voyeuristic experience, unashamed to overexpose private bodies for public or commercial purposes. In Badrichani’s works, there are no faces, no particular identity, rather the artist uses anonymous croppings of identifying features endemic to the nudes we send as teasers and accumulate on our phones.
With the artist’s signature lines ‘à la Matisse’, a multiplicity of acrylic works on paper and painted mannequin sculptures are elegantly presented altogether in a palette of earthy hues of umber and sienna with some elegant blues and yellows.
