Artist Spotlight: Armig Santos (Puerto Rican b.1995)

I'm saying a little bit about this excellent show and artist here in Whitehot Magazine. The painter is also currently at The Whitney Museum and was also Holland Cotter’s pick in The New York Times as best show of 2022. 

This is Armig Santos (Puerto Rican b.1995), and this is his first solo show in NYC. Coincidentally, he is also included in the now acclaimed exhibition at The Whitney Museum of American Art titled: No existe un mundo posthuracán: Pueto Rican Art in the Wake of Hurracán Maria.  

The paintings in this series document and explore the highly controversial US Navy invasion and finally, the cease of operations on the Island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. WM
